You Can Change Lives through Charitable Giving

Read for Literacy and Claire’s Day are responsible for raising money in support of its mission of providing a range of literacy services and training that affords children, adults and families the opportunity to achieve success. The Read For Literacy Board of Trustees is dedicated to achieving our annual operational, program and endowment goals to ensure that more children, adults, and families are served.

Outright Gifts
can be given as a direct contribution or a pledge can be made over a specified period of time. Donors may always arrange to meet with the Executive Director of Read for Literacy to customize gifts that fit their needs. Recognition, including the naming of an endowment or legacy fund, is available for all gifts and we are dedicated to being responsible stewards of your generosity.

Planned Gifts are also an option for giving to Read for Literacy. While they require more planning, and counsel than a traditional gift, we have established an endowment fund for meeting the long term needs of our organization and we are always interested in meeting with donors and their financial or tax advisors to enable giving that also provides benefits to the donor. At your direction, planned gifts can serve as a way to honor your legacy to literacy, serve as a memorial or honor a loved one by strengthening Read For Literacy programs for generations to come.

How Can You Give?

As a Read for Literacy partner, you can designate several types of gifts that will support our programs and services.

  • Gifts of cash, credit, checks and in-kind materials;
  • Gifts of  appreciated securities;
  • Gifts of life insurance or retirement plan proceeds; and
  • Gifts through United Way of Greater Toledo

Read for Literacy will also complete the necessary steps to accept gifts in-kind and company “matching gift” programs that require documentation. Read for Literacy meets all IRS and federal/state non-profit regulations and will work with donors to ensure that we are good stewards of your gift.
