    Reader friends are being recruited now. Commitment is 1 hour per week; training provided. You will read with children one-on-one at one of 28 locations in Lucas and Wood Counties. Toledo Public Schools, Maumee Schools and Catholic Diocese Schools are calling YOU to join their students. We promise---it will be your favorite hour of the week. You can make a difference today.     Strengthen Reading Skills

    More than 1,150 participants are engaged in learning; from reading books to learning life skills for the workplace, our student needs are met through individualized goals.

  • Creating Young Readers

    Change the Life of a Child

    Our programs excite a love of learning through reading in preschools, elementary schools and other community settings to increase early literacy skills in children aged three years through second grade.

  • English Language Learners

    Learn English

    Affords speakers of other languages the opportunity to improve their English language speaking, reading and writing skills. Additionally, Read for Literacy volunteers assist students in preparing for completion of their US Citizenship test.
